Behind the Beats: Svetlana's Voyage from Yamaha to Ableton
Interview with Electric Eden Artist: Chiles
Hello Svetlana! How are you today, and what have you been up to lately?
Hello! I'm currently working on two new tracks.
Can you briefly share when you started producing music, your first piece of equipment or software?
I graduated from music school in piano and graduated from the Electronic Music Academy in 2023. I started electronic music in 2022. I had the simplest Yamaha synthesizer. I learned the FL Studio program on my own, but this year after the academy, I switched to Ableton, an incredibly convenient program. After the academy, I gave myself a present and bought a Novation midi-keyboard.
Did you have a mentor or take any lessons, either offline or online, to enhance your skills?
At first, I studied on my own and watched YouTube videos, but I realized that I wanted to study electronic music more seriously and took a course at the academy of electronic music.
Could you share some insights about your latest single “No More Sweet Talk” on Electric Eden Records? When did you start working on this track, how long did you spend on it, and any interesting details about the creative process?
This track took exactly one month to create, and it's the first track that didn't require any changes or revisions. What you hear is the only version; the melody came from the very first notes.
Having now released your fifth single on the label, do you view Electric Eden Records as a musical home for your work?
Definitely yes! I had two other offers from other labels, but I preferred the first label that responded - Electric Eden Records - and I never regretted my choice.
The concept of "flow" in music production refers to a state of deep focus and creativity. Can you describe a moment when you felt completely in the flow while creating music, and what was the end result of that session?
Writing music is something I can do around the clock, completely immersed in it. I've never chased the quantity of tracks I've written; I'm more interested in quality. When I listen to tracks written a year ago and compare them with today's tracks, I see a significant difference in quality and sound.
What advice would you offer to your younger self, considering all the knowledge and experience you've gained in your career so far? Additionally, what advice would you give to aspiring artists who may be reading this interview?
My career is still at the beginning of its journey, but I know for sure that no obstacles and failures should prevent your dream of becoming a famous and talented musician! Listen to music and create!
Besides music, do you have any other passions or hobbies?
I'm a crazy BMW fan. Maybe someday I'll become an ambassador for that company.
Could you share some of your all-time favorite tracks or songs that have had a significant impact on your musical journey?
If you look at my playlist, you might be very surprised - there are so many different styles and artists on it! So it would be more accurate to say that music in general has had the most significant influence on me!
What can we look forward to from you in the near future?
I'm finishing the remix of my own track, it will be fresh and interesting. And of course I will not do without a new dance track, where there will be saxophone, violin or duduk.
